SNow!

I'm excited for the snow! When I woke up and saw it I was so thrilled! It is freezing but it is pretty also. I just don't want to fall on ice!

Finals

Our first semester of college is finally turning the corner.. It is finals time and time to wrap everything up. Wow, it flew by so fast it's ridiculous. I am very excited for the new semester and for Christmas break. I can't wait to see my family and spend time with my friends. Next semester is going to be a great one.

Progress

December 7th, we got our group together and finished everything. We put final touches on our slide show and recorded our two videos. Also, we added to our script and touched it up. We completed our sources sited page.

Group Progress

On Thursday December 3rd, we worked as a group on our scripts for our movie. We decided to make it an interview. We also decided exactly what our slide show was going to have in it and put the slides together and put pictures into it.

Sex Trafficking

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KSGKgcVZbI

In class today, this video was the item i used. The video is about a five year old girl that was sold into slavery by her mother. The young girl was taken by a man into a hotel and that's where she was last spotted. Her body was found not too far from her home a few days later. This is an awful issue right now that needs awareness.

Student Progress Journal

Proposal:

Group Name: Save the Women Foundation

Group Members: Breanna Hayden, Joel Linzey, and Neal Renner

Purpose: Purpose is to inform, educate, and call to change the problem in Cambodia involving sex-trafficking and its effects on us and the world.

Thesis: The Way to stop the problem of sex trafficking in the world and particularly Cambodia is to educate the people and call for the people to actually care about the subject to make a change.

Audience: This particular subject will be geared towards people who do not know about this problem and didn’t know it was going on in the world and people who care about people’s rights and being able to make their own decisions.

Modes and Media: We will use iMovie and make a video about A Call to Change and The More you and know and speak about the subject and what needs to be done. This method will be helpful in telling our purpose because it is straightforward and will be easy to understand and with this particular audience it will tell them about what we are doing and maybe speak to the ethos side and they will think about how terrible it is. Perhaps use other forms including audio of us interviewing people and get their view on the subject and how they think it affects us in the United States, this will appeal to the senses and make you think.

Plan: First we will gather all the information that we can possibly find about the subject to make sure that we know what exactly we are talking about. Every group member can help on this aspect and we can all make a database together. We also need to find different people of different backgrounds to interview about the subject, we need to write a script that we are going to perform through and record, add text and audio to it and make sure that it is recorded right and everything that we need to be on it, is. We also need to discuss our presentation and the order and showing of what we are going to do.

This is all we have done in our groups so far.

Thankgiving

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of the here. Obviously, getting a break from school is awesome, but the most important part is family. I am so excited to have time at home with my friends and family. I have friends in college in Florida and in Utah. Seeing them soon will be amazing. Also, I have so much to be thankful for. This is one important time of the year to stop and thank God for all he has blessed you with. God gas blessed me with more than i could ever imagine and beyond measure. I am so grateful to be his. Thanksgiving this year will be so exciting!

Group Project

November 12, 2009 20 minutes

Our group project is going to focus on sex trafficking. We decided we wanted to make a video or some other multimedia device. In the video, we want to show statistics of how many are affected and show the video possibly from a "sex trafficking victims" point of view. We still have more to discuss but this is just a start.

Basketball

I am so excited for basketball season. I cannot wait to go to all the games and cheer on Ball State. I also am pumped for my boyfriend's bball season. He goes to Taylor University. This weekend is going to be an interesting game, and i cannot wait to see how the season turns out.

Sex trafficking in Cambodia

My position paper is on sex trafficking in Cambodia. I think this is a good international issue because it is an issue that needs to be resolved. The crime is inhumane and cruel. So many innocent women and children are taken and forced to be in a sex trade. It is awful. The government needs to do more to protect these people and take action against the ones committing the crime.

Carmel Apples

Carmel apples are so amazing. One of my favorite parts of the fall is carmel apples. They are so yummy. My roomie brought home two pack of 6! Agh. I'm going to gain weight like crazy =). Green granny smith apples with carmel and nuts are the best ones! They will definitely be gone by the end of the week.

Christmas Break

I am so ready for Christmas break! It cannot come soon enough. I just can't wait to have like three weeks to relax and see friends from home. No homework, no stress, and home cooked food =). The only down side is packing up clothes and everything for that long of time.. it's going to be a pain to bring everything home! Christmas break will just be amazing and will be a great time with my family and church at home.

Isiah 40:30-31

This Bible verse has helped me through some troubles recently. The verse reads, "Even youths grow tired and weary. Even young men stumble and fall. But those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint." This verse has been particularly helpful recently because I have gone through some difficulties during the college transition and this verse has reminded me that even strong and youthful people will endure hardships, but those who put their Trust in God will always have their spirit strengthened and rejuvenated.

Slow Fade

Be careful little eyes what you see
It's the second glance that ties your hands as darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go
For it's the little feet behind you that are sure to follow

It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
It's a slow fade, it's a slow fade

Be careful little ears what you hear
When flattery leads to compromise, the end is always near
Be careful little lips what you say
For empty words and promises lead broken hearts astray

It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day

The journey from your mind to your hands
Is shorter than you're thinking
Be careful if you think you stand
You just might be sinking

It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
Daddies never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day

Oh be careful little eyes what see
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little eyes what you see

This song is so true. No one falls apart in one day. Little things creep in people's life and slowly pull them
apart and bring them farther and farther away from God. The boundaries that were once made become farther
and farther away and the area becomes gray. The choices you make, the thoughts you think, will all have a price, and could lead to a slow fade.

Study Tables

Study tables- aggghhh. That is all I can say. Six hours a week outside of class and practice is hard to reach. It seems like there aren't enough hours in the day. If all the hours aren't met then no competition. It is crazy. So much stress comes with athletics, but it will all be worth it. So here I go, headed to study tables again, and every other night this week. =) No talking, no phones, no labtops, nothing. Whoohoo.

Homecoming week!

Whoohoo! Our first homecoming in college has arrived. This week is going to be a great week. There are so many activities going on each night and then the game on Saturday. I am very stoked. The bonfire last night went well and I'm sure the rest of the week will. =) cant wait..

Relationships

Why are relationships so hard? Do you ever ask yourself, "what the heck am I doing?" I find myself saying that alot. College should be fun and you should not be tied down. There is so much to experience and there should never be a relationship in the way of that. Im so over guys right now. They are tooo complicated even though i would bet they would say the same for us. =) Agh.

Track

So far, I absolutely love running track here at BSU. We are only conditioning right now but I can already get a feel for how the season is going to go. It is hard to manage being a student and an athlete but it is very doable. The only thing is the difference between college competition and high school competition. WOW, what a difference. Practice is sooo much harder in college obviously. It is ridiculous. High school practice did not even come close to preparing me for any of this. However, I couldn't imagine not doing sport in college. I love running =).

Sleep!

I need more sleep at BSU! I am always up still at 2:30 am every night! It's no wonder i slept in and missed one of my classes today! ha. Here I am again, in the study lounge, and it is already eleven and I am not anywhere near done studying. This is ridiculous. What happened to high school? I am worn out with this school work already. But, tomorrow is the weekend and it is all good. =)

Ishmael Beah

Having Ishmael Beah come to Ball State was great. I didn't really know what to expect, but i do know that i was very surprised. He was a great public speaker and had the perfect answers to every question that was asked. It is one thing to read a book and feel the emotions wrote about but another to actually here them from the mouth that lived it. I loved listening to him. He answered many questions i had , like how he was so forgiving and how he had so much hope to make it through. The journey he has been through is ridiculous but his story is amazing. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to have him here and to listen to his message for us.

god

God is the number one priority in my life. He picks me up when I fall down. He loves me when I am unlovable. He is my best friend. No matter what, he is by my side. Through rain or shine.. his grace is enough. =)

Philipians 4:13
I can do all things through christ which strengthen me.

love, happiness, joy

Some things in life are priceless. Some things in life can't be bought. Love, friendship, peace, joy, and happiness are a few. Everyday we should cherish these things. No amount of money is worth our happiness, peace or joy. We are the creator of our own happiness. No matter what our circumstances, we are the outcome of our own happiness by how we make use of what we got. Love can't be bought but should be freely given. Friendship can't be lived without. Make everyday the best day, and the outcome with always be in good favor.

blessings

Never take the things you have for granted. You never know what you have until it's gone. Appreciate the little things in life, because in a blink of an eye it could be taken away from you. Everyone is blessed has from head to toe but the one that realizes what they have are the ones that are blessed the most.

memoir

When i was younger, i believed that everyone expressed their emotions the same. My household was very loving and showed it through their actions and words. We told each other how much we loved each other and did things for each other. However, my Pa was raised differently. He was a stubborn, non emotional, and cold hearted man. He never told me how he felt or was affectionate towards me. One day i told him i loved him and he replied back with, "Thank you." This killed me inside. I didnt understand why he couldn't tell me. It was years later when he finally told me. Pa came down with cancer and became a changed man. This disease made him a happier and more loving person. He always hugged me, squeezed me, and told me how much he loved me. It was then that i realized that not everyone expresses their feelings the same as me. All all along he loved me but he didn't know how to show it.

Quote

"Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in getting up everytime we do" -confucius

Everyone makes mistakes and everyone fails. It isn't about failing but about what we do once we fail. You have to get up, brush yourself off, and pick up the pieces. Glory is in the one who confidently accepts his failures and turns them into progress not one who never fails. If there was no such thing as failure then there would be no such thing as success.
